Bustling Hong Kong has been declared the finest place to heal from heartbreak, despite many people imagining an Eat, Pray, Love-style journey of self-discovery after a relationship ends.

A recent study conducted by research platform Journo Report examined more than 80 destinations worldwide to provide an objective list of the best cities for people trying to move on from heartbreak. With 30 million foreign visitors a year, Hong Kong topped the list because it is safe for lone travelers, has reasonably priced food and drink (and a culture of dining alone), and offers opportunities to meet new people. London’s countless nightlife options and marginally lower hotel prices for single tourists than Hong Kong helped it rank second. With nearly 20 million residents, London was praised for allowing tourists to socialize with new people, even though its safety rating was significantly lower than Hong Kong’s.annual foreign visitors.

Third place went to New York City, which was criticized for the high cost of hotel rooms for single tourists but was praised for its large population of single individuals and excellent chances for travelers to meet new people. Seoul, South Korea, and Zurich, Switzerland, completed the top five.
