What is a fair budget for a honeymoon?
Conventional advice has suggested that couples save 12–15% of their wedding money for the honeymoon. According to the well-known honeymoon registry website Honeyfunmany, current trends show that many couples spend more on their honeymoon than on their actual wedding. Colombia’s Cartagena

The nation is experiencing a supply-chain revolution, with innovative hoteliers, creators, and artists advancing the destination with the restaurants, bars, and hotel openings that provide access to high-quality provisions. Artemova and Allen recommend it as one of the best affordable honeymoon destinations. There are also numerous affordable lodging options for you and your fellow newlyweds because the cost of living is cheaper than in many Western nations.
Of course, begin in Havana, where Allen says couples may enjoy a cigar and rum sampling, a city tour through the vibrant colonial streets, and salsa sessions that teach you how to dance every night. “Riding in a beautiful, vibrantly colored 1950s classic car through the city streets—driving along the Malecon and passing by Revolution Square—is one of the most iconic experiences,” Allen recalls. “Mahe drivers own these vehicles, which have been cherished and lovingly maintained by their families for many generations.”
She then suggests having dinner at one of the many paladares, which are privately owned eateries typically operated by local families. Allen claims that you will be astounded by the intricacy of the cuisine because of the Cuban people’s inventiveness. Take a stroll and explore Cienfuegos and Trinidad after leaving Havana. Go to Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang if you’d rather stay in a large city; they’re all charming old towns with streets lit by lanterns.
The largest island in Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, Cát Bà, is a great starting point for visiting this well-known natural beauty. With its untamed and natural splendor, a large portion of the island is a national park. The largest village on the island, the town of Cát Bà, is only a short stroll from three smaller sandy beaches. With a view of one of Lan Ha Bay’s limestone islets, Cat Co 3 is a swoop of fine sand and calm, clear water. The beach is an excellent spot for swimming and relaxation. The beach is accessible to the general public, despite being next to a resort.
Where to stay: To taste Italian design in Vietnam, get a room at the lavish, vibrant Reverie Saigon. Croatia’s Dubrovnik to Split
If you enjoy Italy, you will also enjoy Croatia, which Allen says is a more cost-effective destination. The “Pearl of the Adriatic,” Dubrovnik, blends expansive seaside views with ancient history. Allen believes one of the best ways to see the Old Town’s quaint streets below is to stroll around the old enclosed walls. She suggests that lovers check out the charming stores and excellent neighborhood cafes. After that, travel to Split so you may see Diocletian’s Palace. Allen claims that Split is a city constructed from Brač stone, a type of limestone,
which gives the structures a genuine sheen due to its polished surfaces. Krka National Park offers breathtaking waterfalls and clear blue water for those who enjoy the outdoors. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Plitvice Lakes National Park is well-known for its network of tiered lakes connected by waterfalls. Off the coast of Split, the island of Hvar is well-known for its nightlife, gorgeous beaches, and coves accessible by boat and kayak, according to Allen. “As you travel through this historic nation, it’s the ideal place to unwind for a few days in stunning surroundings.”
Allen suggests going to Croatia over the summer. “You will find perfect beach days, even though it will be hectic,” she explains. “To get the best deals, go between November and March, when it’s cooler and rainier, there are fewer people, and the prices are at their lowest.” However, she says early fall is the best time of year because it’s still warm and you can walk, attend harvest festivals, and participate in unique cultural activities.
